Labor Day In South Plainfield
The 52nd annual South Plainfield NJ Labor Day parade was attended by both gubernatorial candiates.
Incumbent governor Jon Corzine walked in the parade, shaking hands.
Sometime later he was followed by Republican candidate Chris Christie and Kim Guadagno, candidate for Lt. Governor.
The South Plainfield Labor Day parade in the largest in New Jersey. The parade lasted more than two hours.
South Plainfield Councilwoman Chrissy Buteas, a lifelong resident and one of the parade organizers, said this year’s celebration was 10 months in the making. Nearly every town employee and dozens of volunteers had a hand in putting on the event.
